August 6-13, 2011
This August, we celebrated our 3rd annual
Early Literacy Awareness Week. Held in conjunction with National Health Center Week, and Reach Out and Read, Inc.'s Summer of a Million Books, this week is a time to encourage families to foster a love of reading in our youngest children and prepare them for success in school.
For the past three years, we have celebrated this week with the distribution of thousands of donated books, children's book readings by special guests, and other events highlighting the importance of books in the lives of young children. This year we continued the tradition, with a book distribution of over 10,000 books!
