Your support makes a difference!
To help meet the growing needs of New York families, we must raise an additional $5,000 to reach our fiscal year-end goal by June 30th.
Make a gift and help us continue to prepare young New Yorkers to start school ready to learn.
Thank you! Traci Lester Executive Director

New Research on Reach Out and Read and Latino Families
New research has been released on the impact of Reach Out and Read on Latino Families. This study showed that a sample of Latino children who participated in Reach Out and Read from six months of age had average or above average literacy skills by the end of kindergarten, as well as high-quality home literacy environments.
Visit the research page on our website for details on this and other studies supporting Research and Read.

New York Cares Volunteers Rock It Out!
Earlier this month, two teams of New York Cares volunteers helped us sort donated books for a big book distribution from our storage space in Brooklyn. These volunteers helped separate books by age group so that our program sites could get the kind of books that they need most. We want to give special thanks to Kwacey, the team leader, and all of the volunteers who helped our book distribution go smoothly.

The Estée Lauder Companies Plan a Virtual Book Drive
For the fifth year in a row, The Estée Lauder Companies will hold a company-wide book drive in support of Reach Out and Read. Last year, thanks to the overwhelming support of The Estée Lauder Companies' employees, thousands of books were donated to the children of Reach Out and Read through its virtual book drive. The book drive will run from June 13th through 29th.
Our program sites are always in need of high-quality new and gently-use books. If you think you might like to host a book drive, visit our website for tips and ideas.

Coming Soon: Early Literacy Awareness Week - August 5-12, 2012
We are gearing up for the fourth annual Reach Out and Read of Greater New York Early Literacy Awareness Week and inviting everyone to get involved. Early Literacy Awareness Week is a time to encourage families to read together as a means of improving the language and literacy development of young children. When children are raised in literacy-rich homes with families that read with them regularly, they are better prepared to succeed in school.
Early Literacy Awareness Week will feature a book distribution to Reach Out and Read program sites, as well as activities and events throughout the area. What can you do to support Reach Out and Read?
